How to Navigate Regions and Choose Progression Order in Order of the Sinking Star

Choosing an effective path across Order of the Sinking Star's directional worlds ensures smooth progression through its massive interconnected puzzle network.
From the starting Crossroads, four distinct regions branch outward, contributing to over 1,000 hand-crafted puzzles. In-game guidance recommends heading North into The Hearty Heroes of Hauling or East toward Mirror Isles, as both areas present accessible opening puzzles. Skipping Stones to Lonely Homes in the South introduces intermediate challenges, while Beamcasters in the West is considered the most demanding environment and best reserved for later.
Each territory centers on a dedicated mechanic: North relies on Sokoban-style hauling where heroes push, pull, or swap objects; East utilizes magic mirrors that swap targets with their reflections depending on distance; South challenges players to kick stones into water currents alongside lily pads; and West requires fitting gems into sockets to cast colored beams. In the South, holding Ctrl slows down timing while Alt fast-forwards through waits.
Avoid grinding repeatedly on any individual puzzle. Players can return to the overworld through the pause menu at any point to advance another world. Undo and reset actions occur instantly without penalty, making early resets ideal. Advancing paired territories gradually opens the transitional Gold Rooms joining those worlds.
