How to Triangulate Targets in IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator

Mastering map triangulation in IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator allows artillery operators to convert spotter radio transmissions into precise target locations.

Because the operator's station lacks exterior windows, the interactive tactical map on the port cabin wall serves as your only link to ground positions. Orders arrive via the teletype printer stationed at the cabin rear. Clicking lines on the printed tape copies grid references and compass bearings to the clipboard. The operational board displays a 20×10 grid numbered 1 through 10 along rows and lettered A through T across columns. Each large grid cell represents 1,000 × 1,000 meters and contains smaller 100 × 100-meter subdivisions.

When missions assign two forward observers, tracking targets requires the intersection method. Place a marker at the coordinates reported for Spotter A, select the yellow pencil, and trace a vector along the reported bearing. Repeat this marking sequence for Spotter B from their corresponding grid location. The point where the two drawn lines cross reveals your objective. If an observer provides a distance reading instead of an angle, employ the drafting compass to scribe a circle at that distance; the target sits where the circle meets the other bearing line.

During difficult late-game engagements, radio interference can cause Spotter B's signal to degrade into partial bearings. In such edge cases, inspect topographical contour lines to resolve target positions: vehicles follow valley bottoms and road networks, while enemy bunkers are positioned atop elevated ridges. Once the intersection is verified, equip the red pencil and draft a vector extending from your turret to the enemy pin. This registers target range and bearing to the clipboard for ballistic computation.
