How to Calculate Elevation in IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator

Calculating gun elevation in IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator allows operators to place shells on target whether utilizing the electro-mechanical ballistic calculator or computing angles manually.
When the ballistic calculator operates normally, generating an elevation angle requires minimal effort. Measure your distance to target using the red pencil, copying the measurement to the clipboard. Input the range into the calculator, select your powder charge count, and pull the compute lever. The machine outputs a fire mission card containing the required elevation value to set on the turret.
During intense operations, hydraulic failure or hostile counter-battery fire can permanently damage the ballistic calculator. Without this TDC-style computer, players must calculate elevation angles by hand. Determine the distance with your red pencil. Multiply target distance by 0.012, then divide by the chosen number of charges to find the elevation angle directly. For instance, when firing on an enemy at 6,470 meters with 2 charges, multiply 6,470 by 0.012 to get 77.64, then divide by 2 to achieve an elevation angle of 38.82 degrees. For a target at 4,300 meters using 5 charges, multiplying 4,300 by 0.012 and dividing by 5 gives 10.32 degrees.
The gun operates with a maximum useful elevation of 60 degrees. Each powder charge level expands effective reach across a 5 km range band. One charge reaches 5,000 meters at 83.33 meters per degree; two reach 10,000 meters at 166.66 meters per degree; three reach 15,000 meters at 250.00 meters per degree; four cover 20,000 meters at 333.33 meters per degree; five handle 25,000 meters at 416.66 meters per degree; and six reach 30,000 meters at 500.00 meters per degree. Operators can also divide target range in meters by meters per degree. For example, a 12,000-meter shot with 3 charges divided by 250 requires 48 degrees, while 7,500 meters with 2 charges divided by 166.66 yields approximately 45 degrees.
