Dressmaker: How to Place, Adjust, and Remove Accessories

Modifying garment embellishments in Dressmaker is completely reversible, allowing creators to delete misplaced accessories, edit lace lines, and reposition buttons without penalty.
Removing Discrete Accessories from Garments
In Dressmaker, taking unwanted accessories off a dress is simple. Open the Accessories menu tab, hover over the placed item on the mannequin, and click the right mouse button. The decoration vanishes from the fabric and returns immediately to your inventory reserve. Note that discrete accessories do not feature a menu delete button; right-clicking is the way to remove them from the garment.
Adjusting and Scaling Placed Accents
Placing an accessory down without Shift, or clicking one already on the dress, reveals a small panel of buttons. Increase size and Decrease size permit scaling from 0.1 times up to 3 times standard dimensions. Raise and Lower control how far the accessory floats above or rests against the fabric. Selecting Reset position removes rotation and depth adjustments while maintaining current size, and Duplicate provides an identical copy to place.
Removing and Modifying Lace and Trims
Lace and trim lines are laid across the mannequin as linked pathways of pins, requiring a minimum of two anchor points. To dismantle an entire decorative line at once, click the trim line to highlight it and press Remove item (the cross icon on its floating menu). If you only wish to shorten or undo the end of a line, right-clicking either the initial or terminal pin removes that specific anchor. Reducing a trim path down to a single remaining pin automatically cancels the line and refunds the used stock.
Precision Alignment with the Rotation Gizmo
For advanced orientation control, players can toggle the Accessory Rotation Gizmo on by pressing left Ctrl and R while inside the Accessories drawer, or enabling it in settings. The gizmo places a rotation ring around the active embellishment. Dragging a ring spins the accessory freely, while holding Shift snaps rotation into clean 15-degree increments. Note that lace and trim lines do not get the gizmo.
Placing discrete accessories repeatedly is simplified by holding the Shift key while clicking the garment surface, which leaves an identical duplicate in your hand with matched orientation and size for as long as inventory stock persists. Tapping Q or E spins an unplaced accessory before anchoring.
When laying complex lace borders along curved hems, each new anchor pin must sit within 12.5 centimeters of the preceding point. If you wish to extend an existing border later, selecting the line and clicking either end pin allows you to resume placing subsequent anchor points smoothly.
